Merry Monday Christmas Card Challenge #219 - Bird

Monday's are SO much better because we start a new Merry Monday Christmas card challenge!!   This week, Sue brings us a wonderful challenge:  Create a Christmas card with a bird(s) on it!

For my card, I chose a gorgeous stamp set from The Kitchen Sink, Multi-step Winter Cardinals.  Their stamps are really something...the images look so real!

What's your favorite bird image and how will you use it to create a Christmas card?  Well, I can't wait to see it!!  Be sure to check out the fabulous projects the Design Team has to share with you...

Season of Thanks

With a day of rain and a 40 degree drop in temps, Fall has officially arrived (took it's time!)  The leaves in our area have really turned and are falling -- everywhere ;)

For my card, I started with a piece of watercolor paper and Color Bursts.  After spritzing, I added some additional ink and slightly blended the colors.  So fun -- I never know what exactly I'll end up with, but here it is!  Then I used these cut/emboss leaf dies and layered them on gold cardstock adding the "thanks" word die (PTI) and a few gold sequins.

Thanks to these challenges for the inspiration:

Trick or Treat

Yep, Halloween will be here in another week!  I waited as long as I could, but I finally brought the candy into the house (pretty scary to have it around for a week...but I had to be brave!)

These cute little Trick or Treaters are from Mama Elephant's set Bootastic.  The trick or treat die cut is from Papertrey Ink which I cut from bright green glitter cardstock.  Lastly, the web embossing folder I used for the background is from Darice.

Thanks to these challenges for the inspiration!

STAMPlorations October Sketch/Theme Challenge REMINDER

There's still plenty of time to play in STAMPlorations' October Sketch/Theme challenge!  Choose the sketch, the theme or both -- it's totally up to you!

I combined the sketch and theme using the new Christmas Deer Stamp set.  The background was sponged with browns and red using the Bubbles ARTplorations Stencil.  And have you check out the new CUTplorations dies?!  I cut the Jingle All the Way word die from shiny gold cardstock!

Simply Spiders

It's said that spiders eat other bugs and that's supposed to be a good thing (nature-wise), but I gotta admit, I don't like 'em!  They are fascinating little things though (and some are not so little),  especially the webs they weave!

So for my card, I started with webs - embossed ones!  The sentiment is an old Stampin Up one.  I then added the die cut spiders hanging on baker's twine (now if they wove baker's twine, well, I might like 'em a little better!)

Thanks so much to these challenges for the inspiration:

Coffee Swirls

Sometimes the simplest cards take the longest time for me, but I sure had fun with this one!  I hadn't played with shaving cream for a long time and tonight I found a can and decided - why not?!

The background behind the Simon Says coffee cut die cut was created using the shaving cream technique.  I embossed the base with Taylor Expressions brick embossing folder and cut the Verve coffee word die from shiny gold cardstock.

Thanks to these challenges for the inspiration...and the fun!

Frightening Feline

I don't have a lot of Halloween stamps, but as I was looking through my stash, I had completely forgotten about this 2012 Stampin Up stamp Frightening Feline!  This was probably the most simple card I've made in a long time!

I black embossed the image and then spritz the paper with water and added Ken Oliver orange Color Burst.  Then, added some black sequins (the little bat is also a sequin) and finished the card with black/white bakers twine.  Voila!  Instant Halloween card!

Thanks to these challenges for the inspiration (and for helping find this cute stamp :)
